Owl Finish

This little owl is an internet freebie I found here ages ago on the Stitching the Night Away blog and stitched him up for Quilts for Older Children and Adults. Once I get him pressed he will be packaged up and mailed to Pennsylvania to be added to a quilt. I love stitching for Q4OAC and I almost quit this year due to some personal issues, so glad I didn't.

French Country Cat and Pattern Giveaway

8/25 The winner is Linda, comment # 3.  Please send me your snail mail.  Congrats!!

Here is a little cat I stitched up for a friend at Christmas. I stitched it on an old piece of hand-dyed evenweave from Enchanted Fabrics -- wish she was still in business.   Plan to frame it up and give it to my BFF the cat lover.  This is my 9th finish for 2013 and my 6 project finished on my CJC 2013 list.

I am giving away this pattern from JBW Designs.  If you would like to have it leave a comment by Friday 23 August.  I will announce it's new home on the 24th.

Christmas Pear Finish

Oh my, it has been ages since I have posted a finished piece on my lonely little blog. The last two weeks have been great weeks for stitching. I have lots of goodies to share with you. Something that truly excites me is my 11 year old who turns 12 next month has finally picked up a needle and started stitching. Granted it is a Pokémon image, but she is stitching and doing a fine job. I look forward to publishing it on this blog.

As for me I finished this darling Christmas Pear from Samplers and Santas, if you don't already visit her blog you must give it a try, it is fun and refreshing, she is a very engaging writer. I just blog to share my simple finishes, Marly blogs to share life's moments and it is very entertaining--well, at least I am entertained. I wish I were doing what she is doing at our age, instead I still have 3 kids in elementary school-- that is what happens when you get a late start. No regrets, it's just a little noisy at times.

This pattern is on my Crazy January Challenge 2013 list I may get through the entire list by the end of December.  WooHoo!!

A CJC Finish and Three CJC Starts to Share

My stitching fingers have been hot lately, just stitching away trying to catch up with my new CJC starts before the 15th which is when I leave for a basket weaving convention.  While watching the Wild Card Playoffs this weekend I managed to start and finish Samplers and Santas Pear II--lovely!!  I am in love with this piece, the colors are fabulous and it just makes me smile.  I am not one to stitch a pattern more than once, but this one has potential to be a repeat project for me.

CJC 2013 Stiching Started

I have finally started two of my new Crazy January Challenge 2013 projects. Both are from The Prairie Schooler and I am so happy they use the same color floss so I can work on them together.  I plan to take them to the Texas Basket Weavers Association weaver's weekend to work on in my downtime.

After stitching on these two pieces I have found that I am not a fan of Davos fabric, the weave is to loose and the stitches tens to slip.  I am having to be very creative with my stitching to ensure my X's look like X's and not a vertical bar.  I am having to complete each X as I go along--what a pain.  Once this fabric is used up I will not be buying more for my other PS Santa's ( I have the entire annual Santa collection).

Enjoy!!
