Sailing Ship Finish

My sadly neglected blog, I apologize for ignoring you for so long.  I have been stitching and now I need to share my creations with you.  I finished this in November for the Quilts for Older Children and Adults.   This piece is part of the groups annual Stitchers Challenge.

Another finish for the Quilts for Older Children and Adults stitching group.  This is part of a pair, I am stitching an owl to go along with this one.  This design is from a Russian designer, Anna Nolfina, you can see the patterns here on Etsy.   I really enjoy donating my time to this group and I love to see the photos when the child or adult receives this gift made with love from so many volunteers around the world.  We have stitchers in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil.

Check back later in the week, I am having a giveaway on my Friday post. It will include patterns and cards from my card blog Tea-n-Stamps.

Enjoy!!

Patriotic Finish

Hello all my stitching friends!!  I can't believe we are already in the month of July.  Here is a quick little finish I have to share just in time for the 4th of July.   It is designed by a cross stitcher that I follow, Sandra Longan, you can see it here on her blog or on Pinterest under Patriotic Cross Stitch.

This one is going to my friend Jeneen in Pennsylvania for the Quilts for Older Children and Adults.  The stitched squares will be used in a quilt that will be auctioned to raise money for the group.   The money is used to buy supplies to create the quilts and pays for postage.  Our group mails quilts all over the world.

More news, last October we lost our #1 fur baby, Gracie quite suddenly.  Well now, we have a new fur baby to keep our Hazel company.  Peanut, a Dachshund mix that we rescued from the Wichita Falls Humane Society.

Country Cottage Finish

I stitched this up for the Quilt for Older Children and Adults group and posted it to Pennsylvania on Monday, hoping it would arrive today.  I think the snowstorm on the east coast will delay it a bit. This is part of a year long SAL and hopefully I will get all 12 stitched in 2017.  Usually the SAL pieces are used as quilt fillers or sent to other groups for quilts.  Our group collaborates with stitching groups in the UK, Brazil and Australia.  I love stitching, especially for charity.

As I am typing this a very large squirrel crawled atop my fence, looked in the window and jumped on the roof.  A squirrel friend just joined him.  Hope they are having fun.

Two Finishes for Charity

I stitched up these two pieces for Quilts for Older Children and Adults charity group.   These were both parts of SAL' s and will be made into quilts a that are donated to charity groups for fundraisers.

Most pieces that I stitch for Q4OCA are designated for individuals with debilitating or terminal illnesses.  I have been stitching for this group for many years and I truly love it.  For more info check out our Yahoo page or FB.   I forgot to get a picture of the finished butterfly, once it is posted for the group I will add a completed picture.  It really is beautiful with the DMC Color Variations floss.

This is a freebie from Alita Designs that I found on Pinterest.  Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the pattern requirements and it is too big for the quilt.  I know Jeneen will find another quilt for it.
Completed squares always find a home.  If you want to find out more about stitching for Quilts for Older Children and Adults you can find them on Facebook or Yahoo Groups.

Tribal Dolphin and Giveaway

Here is Tribal Dolphin from White Willow Stitchery. It is part of a large series of tribal pieces from White Willow. This was my first time stitching one of their designs it was a little cumbersome due to the design was split between 2 pages.  I sent this off to Quilts for Older Children and Adults as part of a SAL for Love Quilts Brazil.  I love cross stitching for worthy organizations.

As for the giveaway if you would like this pattern and a surprise pattern just leave a comment below and share the news with a friend.  I will pick a winner on 13 June.

Hello, I am still here!!

Okay, I have not blogged in a month.  The month of May always seems to just fly by, this year was no exception.  It is always busy at the kids schools.  I had book fair, field trips, PVO meetings, Box Tops contest, parties, teacher gifts, hubby graduating with a MA, family visits, vet visits, and we cannot forget the flood.  Yes, we received enough rain in May (13.4 inches) to bust a 5 year drought.  The month started with the combined lake levels around 20% and ended with them overflowing.  Our prayers were answered.  Now I have no excuse not to spruce up the yard.

I did manage on finish in May for Q4OAC, a lovely heart that I stitched in a blush pink color.  It was #53 on my SOCal Debbie CJC for 2015, so glad to have one more stitched up on the list.  I have a few more that are close to complete that I hope to share real soon.  Pardon my not so great phone photo -- but I was in a hurray to get it in the mail.

Enjoy!! CJ

March Smalls Update

Each month, Heather, Stitching Lotus, hosts a Smalls SAL and participants post their progress.  This month I managed to finish a small project for the charity group Quilts for Older Children and Adults.  This is a Hello Kitty project for a young person named Kaitlyn.  If you like to cross stitch and have time to stitch for others check out the Q4OAC blog.  I know Jeneen is always looking for new stitchers.  Please excuse the hoop marks, I will press her before sending her off to Pennsylvania.

SoCal Debbie UCJC Starts #57, #58 and #59

I have made it to the finish line, I have made my 59 new starts for the year in honor of SoCal Debbie, a lady who loved cross stitch and loved to blog about it.  My last three starts have been so much fun that I found to more to add to the list over the weekend. Monday will definitely be my drop dead no more starts day.  I have 5 pieces to stitch for Q4OAC, three are due in April. The rest I can take my time and finish as time allows.  I also need to get back to my card making and basket weaving.  Plan on posting a few more freebies in the coming weeks.  This challenge and SFS has given me a chance to go through my stitching stuff and I have some things that need new homes.

I recently joined a new cross stitch group, The Sampler Life, which has a monthly small SAL. The current SAL started in January and had 223 members participating.   This looks like a great group, very active, members from all over the globe, and lots of stitching going on.  With all that being said I have two more starts to add to the list, I plan finish up with 61 pieces for this challenge.

SoCal Debbie UCJC Starts #51, #52, #53, #54, #55 and #56.

Six more starts to share for the SoCal Debbie UCJC.  I love that I am participating in this challenge.  I have been a part of the CJC challenges for many years, but this year I have a true purpose, I am not stitching just for me but for the memory of a sweet stitcher that left us way too early.  So happy I can be a part of this awesome challenge. Sorry for the phone photos, one day I will pull my camera out to take better pics or just get a better phone. hmmm

New Finish and News

I never did finish the two Mini Madness SALs I joined.  We had a death in the family that came so unexpectedly that it just seems like we will never recover.  I am so sad, but I know that it will pass it just takes time.

I have manages to finish two pieces of stitching for charity that I will send of to Quilts for Older Children and Adults today.  I truly enjoy stitching for Q4OCA.
